The Order:
It’s gotten some hype on various blogs, so this afternoon, AnnMarie and I decided to see if City Burger could get the SeamlessWeb stamp of approval. AnnMarie took a risk for you all by ordering a veggie burger, while I went for a more traditional cheeseburger with fries. I just couldn’t pull the trigger on the Black Label Burger and thought that this would be more representative of what most people eat there. As is often the case, I went to pick it up, both because I like taking a walk during the day and because I thought that I would get the burgers faster and fresher.
The Meal:
My food was waiting (hopefully not too long!) when I arrived, so that was easy. When I brought it back, the packaging held up and the food was still warm. Now what about the taste? I ordered my cheeseburger medium rare with Swiss cheese and from the first bite my mouth was confused. I wanted to eat more, but at the same time, there was something a little off. The burger was flavorful, but not memorable. It was a little dry and small and lacking in that special something that kicks a burger up to the next level (I guess I need to try the Black Label!) and makes it something you crave. Basically, I would order it again, but I wouldn’t seek it out. Similarly, the fries were solid, crispy and all that. And you get a fairly large portion.

Now as for the veggie burger, let’s just say that AnnMarie’s number one word to describe this offering was “lackluster.” She may have been influenced by a recent delicious veggie burger-filled trip to Vermont, but still, this burger didn’t have that much taste. Next time she’s definitely going to go with the beef!

On the whole, City Burger is a decent fast food choice to get the job done for lunch if you stick to the basics and avoid the veggie burger. The cheeseburger and fries are affordable and enjoyable, if not something you are going to order all the time. If you want to spend a little more dough, the Black Label Burger gets raves, so maybe next time. Until we eat again…
