The Order:
Unlike normally, I knew exactly what we were going to order today by Monday afternoon. That’s when I saw that Pamplona was a new SeamlessWeb restaurant AND it delivered to the office. Having just returned from Spain, I wanted to see if I could get a ham and cheese sandwich that lived up to the real deal. Thus I ordered the Bocadillo de Jamon Serrano. Meanwhile, AnnMarie went with the Bocadillo de Pato because she’s obsessed with sandwiches and likes duck. Both sandwiches were served on Italian bread.
The Meal:
Now it says on the menu that the sandwiches are pressed, but we didn’t read the descriptions that closely, so we were a little surprised to see hot sandwiches show up in the office. That said, at least we were pleasantly surprised!
My sandwich was very different from the ones I’d eaten in Spain. Similar ingredients, but the temperature, pressing, and presentation were totally different. This sandwich was cut into three rectangular pieces, whereas the others were more of a room temperature two piece mini-baguette scene. However, as in Spain, the ingredients here were excellent. The flavors were strong and this was definitely high quality ham that I would order again, so it turned out well. I also enjoyed the olives (not pictured) that came on the side, although I think that Pamplona should work a little bit on improving the delivery packaging, as the container was too big for the sandwich.
AnnMarie’s duck and goat cheese sandwich was also a delight. The pressed bread and melted cheese were unexpected treats that contributed to a great meal. In addition, the generous portion of tender duck meat helped make it a filling lunch.
Pamplona was a great discovery for us today and we’re excited to be able to order from there again in the future. The only downside is a high-ish delivery minimum ($15), so if you want to order, you should probably find a friend to team up with.
