Today’s Brooklyn Order: Fish & Sip

Every Friday, in the Today’s Order feature, we write about and review a SeamlessWeb restaurant that delivers to the SeamlessWeb office. But as you should be well aware, SeamlessWeb is in a whole bunch of places outside Midtown Manhattan. And with that in mind we’d like to introduce you to Today’s Brooklyn Order, a new weekly feature which should be self-explanatory. Taking you through our first outer borough order will be one of many Brooklynites in the SeamlessWeb office, Tomi:

The Order:

Recently named the best neighborhood to live in New York City, Park Slope is the perfect location in which to kick off the Brooklyn online ordering experience. As a Brooklynite, I’m familiar with its trendy, urban style, which especially manifests itself in the laid-back hangout spots and amazing restaurants. And since I’m a major foodie who loves to explore, I chose to place my order at the well-named Fish & Sip and pick it up at the restaurant. The menu was loaded with interesting choices and after mulling over the salad selection, I opted for the Mediterranean Salad as an appetizer and the Fish Kabobs with two sides as my entrée.

The Meal:

Despite taking the scenic route on Flatbush Avenue, I arrived ten minutes ahead of schedule. Expecting to wait for a while, I was happy to see that the restaurant had some nice décor and the staff was friendly, but as it turned out, I didn’t have to wait long and actually got my food a few minutes early! I got home and immediately popped the top off of the Mediterranean salad. It consisted of mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, and fresh chunks of crab meat. I had chosen the garlic dill dressing to go with it. All in all, the salad was tasty, but my only complaint was that the mixed greens were slightly soggy from the train ride home. I’ll definitely order the salad again, but the next time I’ll tell them to put the dressing on the side.

As you can see, there's a whole of dressing going on.

Now on to the entrée with two sides. The fish kabobs were seasoned to perfection. The fish was firm, yet still tender and juicy with thick slices of onion in between each piece. My taste buds were tantalized when I bit into a piece green pepper every other bite. Furthermore, the edges of the kabob were blackened by the grill, which enhanced all the flavors.

A whole new way to eat fish!

When I think of mixed veggies, I think of green beans, corn, and carrots. It’s just what pops into my mind. To my surprise, Fish & Sip went in a totally different direction by creating a delicious side dish of julienned carrots, onions, mushrooms and zucchini with a reddish-brown sauce that was to die for. It was the perfect accompaniment to the creamy mashed potatoes. If this was a test, Fish & Sip would get an A. I am officially adding this restaurant to my “Must have Once a Month” list!

Check out Fish & Sip’s menu and feel free to give us recommendations for future orders in the comments.
