Season of Seamless: Week 1 Recap

Season of Seamless: Week 1 Recap

This first week of the Season of Seamless has been filled with tons of smiles, tons of candy, and tons of fun! Let’s take a second to re-cap what we’ve dished out this week:

‘Twas the Season of Seamless, 20 days of food cheer
With promotions and discounts that soon will be here,
Look for emails and blog posts, and on Twitter and Facebook
‘Cause this holiday season you won’t need to cook.

Get friends to try Seamless on this first day of fun.
There are four ways to share, and they’ll love it a ton.
Each friend gets you ten bucks. They’ll save half that deal.
And, for the next three weeks, each order’s a steal!

This Tuesday, you’ll see, is about employee food picks,
Our most-beloved places and cuisines, ordered with only three clicks.
We kick off the choices, starring things cozy and snug.
Vittles you can eat, all nestled up like a bug.

There is something in email, for our corporate friends,
To change up their long days of stocks and dividends.
We’re going to get them in a cheerful mind set,
With winter decorations not to forget.

The rest of you out there who want festive glee
Count up these Reese’s cups, made from Hershey.
Decide on a total, and post what you reckon.
Challenge friends to play also, and suggest they check in.

Today is Thursday, and it’s time for an attack,
A raid and an invasion, of some sort of snack.
Worth one hundred dollars, you’ll soon realize
That this happens each Thursday. It’s quite the prize.

Been a long week of work, but it’s not yet complete.
Finish hanging bright lights that you can see from the street.
Send in your pictures, and we’ll judge with great heed.
Also, tomorrow’s sweet deal involves morning coffee and feed.

MONDAY: We kicked of the 20 Days of Seamless with a special refer a friend treat. For every friend you refer to Seamless, you receive $10! How sweet is that?

TUESDAY: This day was all about the expert Seamless food opinions. We gave you a little “Something Cozy.”

Seamless Restaurant Staff Picks: Something Cozy

Seamless Restaurant Staff Picks: Something Cozy

We pride ourselves as being pretty food knowledgeable. We’re all about it, whether it’s eating it, talking about it, or ordering it, we’re experts at food (at least we think so). And, we’ve all got our favorites for different cuisines and flavors. It’s high time we share some of those with you. Today, we’ve got a little “Something Cozy” for you. And, as cozy is as cozy feels, Chinese, BBQ, Soul Food, or Burgers – it’s all cozy!

Katelyn B. (Partner Marketing Associate): When I want cozy BBQ, my go-to is Hill Country in NYC. The Pork Spare Ribs are always tender and cooked to perfection. Some ribs and a side of the sweet potato bourbon mash is just what I need to satisfy my hunger pains and make my coworkers just a little jealous. OK, very jealous.

Zach Y. (DC Sales Consultant): Pho 14 in DC is the perfect spot to order from when you want to change it up.  Everything I’ve had is great but I especially love the Vietnamese Noodle Soup.  Go with the large bowl adding Dac Biet Bo Vein and you will not regret it.

Jenn S. (Partner Relations): DuMont Burger in Williamsburg – Cheeseburger was done perfectly and the fries are the best in Brooklyn! And what could be more comforting than Mac & Cheese? Mac & Cheese with baconin it! They definitely know what they are doing at DuMont.

Jon W. (San Francisco Sales Consultant): After a big weekend in the city, there’s no better comfort food than the Baby Back Ribs and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes from Asqew Grill in San Fran.  I find myself gnawing the bones for every last morsel of succulent meat and the mashed potatoes remind me of mom’s Sunday dinners.

Sam L. (B2B Marketing Associate): Just the name makes me want to cozy up next to a fire – but their food gets me too. On a chilly day, nothing makes my belly warm and full like Soulfire in Boston. More pulled pork with a side of mac & cheese, please.

Today’s Seamless Order: City Sandwich

The Order:

Seamless HQ recently made a move to a new and fabulous office (pictures and tour to come) right near Bryant Park. While not too far from our old digs, the relocation has certainly opened up a whole new slew of lunchtime restaurants for our hungry staff to choose from.

There was a lot of pressure on my very first order from the new office. Ultimately, I decided on a traditional Soup + Sandwich combo – a real lunchtime classic. Having heard great things about City Sandwich from Seamless Eaters and various NYC food blogs, I decided to give it a try for myself. After one glance at the extensive menu, I knew I was headed in the right direction and headed for great lunchtime magic. The four different soup offerings were all enticing and the various sandwich options looked tremendously tasty. In the end I decided on the Chickpea & Porcini Mushroom Soup and the Melted Cornelia Sandwich. So… how did it all taste?

The Meal:

As a starter, the chickpea soup was delicious. The warm dish is made with chickpeas, mushrooms, zucchini and parmesan cubes… (I know! PARMESAN CUBES!)! It was cheesy, salty, smooth, and extremely delicious! Just the way I like it.

There are PARMESAN CUBES in that soup!

Among all of the sammies on the menu, the Melted Cornelia Sandwich really stood out to me. It’s made with melted mozzarella, roasted seasonal vegetables, roasted tomato, fresh rosemary and olive oil. Melted cheese is one of my deepest weaknesses so I just couldn’t resist. I also happen to be a sucker for some nicely roasted veggies. I mean… who isn’t? RIGHT?!?

Check out the melted mozz...

The sandwich itself was really quite delicious. I am a meat-lover and was worried I may miss having a little protein at lunch, but I really didn’t at all. The cheese was melty even after a delivery. The bread was also chewy and crunchy, but without hurting my mouth (does that ever happen to anyone else?). Surprisingly the fresh rosemary really came through with all the components of the sandwich, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sandwich was also quite large so I could eat half and save the second half for dinner or lunch the next day. Quite. A. Deal.

I couldn’t let the mid-day meal pass without a sweet treat, so I went ahead and ordered the bite size panna cotta. The dessert is described as being like a flan with no eggs and is served with strawberry port wine sauce. It was delicious. A perfect few bites of creamy sweetness to end the meal!

City Sandwich Panna Cotta

Delightful Desserts!

All in all, City Sandwich definitely gets the Seamless stamp of approval and will undoubtedly be a new office lunchtime staple.

Check out the City Sandwich menu and feel free to give us recommendations for future orders in the comments.
