The Order:
Seamless HQ recently made a move to a new and fabulous office (pictures and tour to come) right near Bryant Park. While not too far from our old digs, the relocation has certainly opened up a whole new slew of lunchtime restaurants for our hungry staff to choose from.
There was a lot of pressure on my very first order from the new office. Ultimately, I decided on a traditional Soup + Sandwich combo – a real lunchtime classic. Having heard great things about City Sandwich from Seamless Eaters and various NYC food blogs, I decided to give it a try for myself. After one glance at the extensive menu, I knew I was headed in the right direction and headed for great lunchtime magic. The four different soup offerings were all enticing and the various sandwich options looked tremendously tasty. In the end I decided on the Chickpea & Porcini Mushroom Soup and the Melted Cornelia Sandwich. So… how did it all taste?
The Meal:
As a starter, the chickpea soup was delicious. The warm dish is made with chickpeas, mushrooms, zucchini and parmesan cubes… (I know! PARMESAN CUBES!)! It was cheesy, salty, smooth, and extremely delicious! Just the way I like it.

There are PARMESAN CUBES in that soup!
Among all of the sammies on the menu, the Melted Cornelia Sandwich really stood out to me. It’s made with melted mozzarella, roasted seasonal vegetables, roasted tomato, fresh rosemary and olive oil. Melted cheese is one of my deepest weaknesses so I just couldn’t resist. I also happen to be a sucker for some nicely roasted veggies. I mean… who isn’t? RIGHT?!?

The sandwich itself was really quite delicious. I am a meat-lover and was worried I may miss having a little protein at lunch, but I really didn’t at all. The cheese was melty even after a delivery. The bread was also chewy and crunchy, but without hurting my mouth (does that ever happen to anyone else?). Surprisingly the fresh rosemary really came through with all the components of the sandwich, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sandwich was also quite large so I could eat half and save the second half for dinner or lunch the next day. Quite. A. Deal.
I couldn’t let the mid-day meal pass without a sweet treat, so I went ahead and ordered the bite size panna cotta. The dessert is described as being like a flan with no eggs and is served with strawberry port wine sauce. It was delicious. A perfect few bites of creamy sweetness to end the meal!

Delightful Desserts!
All in all, City Sandwich definitely gets the Seamless stamp of approval and will undoubtedly be a new office lunchtime staple.
