What I Ate in a Week: Amanda's Food Diary

Here at Seamless, our employees are pretty obsessed with food. Every day, we’re making sure delicious food finds its way to your door… and to ours. Say what? Correct, we too order from Seamless (so meta).

With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual—never not hungry—Seamless team members. A nice benefit that happens to come with our jobs is what we call “mealperks”—our weekly Seamless credit. Clearly, we’re using this to get the best bites in town each and every week.

On deck, we have: Amanda, a Corporate Sales Executive at Seamless. Get the lowdown on her delivery highlights of the week and top ordering hacks.

Meet Amanda

Hi, my name is Amanda and I work on Seamless’s corporate sales team, helping our corporate clients feed their hungry employees. Did you know we have a corporate platform specifically built to help companies bring food into the office? It’s awesome and you’ll never have to fill out another food-related expense report if you join. I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t tell you about it.

Anyway, I digress. I live in a suburb of NYC with my husband Miguel and 2-year-old son Theo. In my spare time, you can find me trying to keep my adventurous son out of danger by visiting museums, zoos and farms in an effort to wear him out (and I suppose to educate him as well). I also enjoy spending time with friends and family, reading tabloid websites for the latest celebrity goss and binge-watching the latest episode of Real Housewives. My favorite foods are pizza, sushi and ramen, but I also love Cuban, Thai, French, Mexican, Vietnamese, Spanish, and the list goes on. I love introducing Theo to new cuisines, but lately, he gravitates toward the white starchy variety, so I need to be creative about sneaking in protein and veggies. Seamless makes it really easy to try new restaurants and cuisines that we might never have tried.

Here are Amanda’s top delivery eats from last week…

Super Salmon ‘3 Ways’ from Itsu

Working at Seamless has many benefits, one of them being FOOD! All employees get a weekly Seamless credit to keep us energized at the office. This means I can try out many of New York’s tastiest restaurants and not have to worry about packing a lunch. Since I love sushi so much, I find myself ordering it at least once per week, but sometimes up to three times. My favorite go-to sushi spot near the office is Itsu. I ordered it for pickup because I wanted to get some fresh air. I was in meetings all morning so I quickly placed an express reorder for my usual dish, slipped out to grab it, then returned promptly for my afternoon meetings. It’s so tasty and efficient!

Chilled Vermicelli Noodles from BONMi

As a member of Seamless’s book club, I get invited to join a group order for our meetings. BONMi was one of our options to choose from and since I was really craving spicy pork belly, the choice was a no-brainer. Group order is a great way to feed a team because I can choose and customize my own personal meal and no one needs to try and come up with a catering spread to satisfy everyone’s tastebuds and diet of the week. The food arrived promptly for our book club discussion and it was divine. I ordered the chilled vermicelli noodles with honey pepper pork. The pork had great flavor, the toppings added texture, and I was fueled to power through the rest of my day.

Mexican Caesar Salad from Chopt

On Wednesday, I was absolutely slammed with meetings and didn’t have time to look through menus to figure out what to eat or go very far for lunch, so I ordered from an old fave just down the street from the office, Chopt. If you’ve ever needed a mid-day salad in midtown Manhattan, you’re probably familiar with the long lines at Chopt. It’s the city’s go-to for creative and tasty salads. Pro-tip: if you order for pickup you can completely bypass those long lines and grab your lunch from their well-organized takeout shelf. My favorite is the Mexican caesar salad with chicken because I love anything spicy and that salad has the perfect amount of jalapenos chopped into it.

Curry Kimchi from Red Poke

I had a big kimchi craving so I typed it into the search bar and about 54 restaurants popped up! That’s why I love New York! There are always so many options. I decided to get the curry kimchi dish at Red Poke and it did not disappoint! The dish was packed with flavor and satisfied my kimchi craving.

Chicken Classic Bowl from Dig Inn

It’s starting to get cold in NYC and I thought comfort food would be the best choice for lunch. Everyone at the office always talks about Dig Inn’s chef-designed signature bowls, so I decided to try one out for myself (for delivery of course because it is just too cold to venture outside). This dish is the perfect option for when you want a home-style cooked meal, but don’t feel like cooking. The flavor was great, the chicken was juicy and my belly was happy.

Tune in next week for the latest edition of “What I Ate in a Week.” Will it make you hungry? Probably…but, we can help with that.
