With our “What I Ate in a Week” series, you’ll get a sneak peek into the lives of actual — never not hungry — Seamless team members. Meet JP

Hello, I’m JP Fontelo. I’m an analyst on the data analytics team. I’m a DC native who moved back to the East Coast after spending a few years in the Midwest for grad school and work. I’ve been living in Hoboken, NJ for the past three years. I enjoy swimming, skiing, studying languages (I speak French, Italian, Spanish), and opera.

Here are my top eats from last week…

Falafel Plate from Turco Mediterranean Grill

Mediterranean food is a great option when you’re looking for a variety of fresh and bold flavors. On Thursday, I ordered from Turco Mediterranean Grill. What did I get, you ask? A falafel plate with Turkish bread, bulgur cracked wheat, hummus, and salad highlighted by a freshly roasted pepper. The menu options also made it super easy to pick the bulgur cracked wheat option and maximize my whole grain intake.

Smashed Chickpeas from Two Forks

I’m a fairly recent hire at Seamless, but I’ve quickly learned a Bryant Park neighborhood favorite in the New York office is Two Forks. It’s a fast casual lunch concept with an eclectic blend of flavors. I opted for the shredded pork smash chickpeas bowl with slaw, bean salad, and a sweet and tangy Korean chili sauce. It was a nice day so I set the order for pickup and enjoyed my lunch in the park. 

Tacos Al Pastor from Tacombi

Tacombi in New York has a fun, retro surfer vibe, and serves up amazing Mexican street food. Looks like they’re worth a look to try out some other tacos, apart from the tacos al pastor which I ordered. It’s interesting to think of Seamless as a way to not only quickly and easily order food, but to learn of top nearby restaurants!

Ma Po Tofu from Cafe China

Continuing on our theme of Seamless being a way to find amazing new restaurants, there’s an interesting story behind this ma po tofu from Cafe China. I searched “ma po tofu” in the search bar on the Seamless website and selected pickup. Walking up to the restaurant on 37th Street, the place was buzzing with activity. I saw the glass door adorned with prior years’ Michelin stars. When I got back, I googled to discover all sorts of reviews describing Cafe China as an elevated Sichuan eatery that has won a lot of fans in recent years. The ma po tofu itself offered an elegant take on that warming, numbing sensation I crave in Sichuan cuisine. What a great find.
