What started out as a celebration of math and the never-ending-number, 3.14 (rounded), has turned into a major food holiday thanks to social media. Pi Day as we know it today has an interesting history — it’s also Albert Einstein’s birthday. Coincidence? We think not. But whether or not you’re into math, we can all agree that Pi Day is a great reason to eat pie! Here are a few ways to celebrate Pi(e) Day this year!
Pizza Pie
On the West Coast, it’s called pizza, but true NY-style aficionados call it pie. However you slice it, a pizza pie makes for a great way to celebrate Pi Day. Fold it in half, cut it with a fork and knife, however you enjoy, don’t forget to get a good cheese pull!
Chicken Pot Pie
A Pennsylvania dutch classic! Chicken, carrots, celery, potatoes, onions, and cream sauce in a flaky puff pastry crust. Name a better comfort food dinner…we’ll wait.
Mac & Cheese Pie
The ultimate carb-lovers dream! A pizza pie with a creamy blend of cheddar, mozzarella, and asiago cheese… plus, macaroni, bacon, scallions and bread crumbs. You can stop drooling now.
Apple Pie
We know this can be debated, but when it comes to classic, Apple Pie is at the top of our list. It’s everything you want in a timeless dessert—just the right amount of granny smith apples, sweetness, and a buttery flaky crust.
Quiche
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so they say…so why not start the day strong with a piece of breakfast pie? Erm, we mean quiche. Made with fluffy eggs, rich cheese, and a crispy crust, quiche is a protein-packed excuse to eat pie for breakfast.
